Getting to Brno...

...from an airport (most likely Bratislava, Brno, Prague or Vienna) 🛬

🇸🇰 Bratislava

The easiest and most efficient way to continue your journey to Brno is by train – it takes about 1.5 hours and offers a smooth ride. To catch the train, hop on bus no. 61, which runs directly from the Bratislava Airport to Bratislava Main Train Station (Hlavná stanica) (tap your contactless card or device at the terminals in the vehicles to buy the bus ticket). Tickets for the train can be booked online through Slovak Rail (ZSSK – Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko) or RegioJet.

While there are bus connections to Brno from Bratislava (from Nivy Bus Station), we don’t really recommend them. Why? Because getting from the airport to the bus station is a bit of a hassle, the bus ride itself is longer, and during rush hour, you'll likely be bonding with strangers in a good old-fashioned highway traffic jam. Stick with the train – it’s faster, easier, and doesn’t involve nearly as much sighing.

🇨🇿 Brno

If you have flown directly to Brno, just hop on bus no. E76, which takes you straight from the airport to the city centre (Main Train Station (Hlavní nádraží) to be precise). From there, getting around is a breeze. Keep reading below for more detailed tips on how to navigate Brno like a pro.

🇨🇿 Prague

If you decide to fly to Prague, get ready for the longest leg of your journey to Brno.
Travel between Prague and Brno takes around 3 hours, so if you're choosing this route, pack a bit of patience (and maybe a snack). If you do fly into Václav Havel Airport, your best bet is to take the AE (Airport Express) bus straight to Prague Main Train Station (Hlavní nádraží). From there, hop on a train to Brno with either Czech Railways (České dráhy) or RegioJetboth will get you there comfortably.

You can also take a bus from Prague to Brno, but we wouldn’t recommend it. Getting from the airport to the bus station is unnecessarily complicated, the journey takes longer, and if you hit traffic on the highway, well... let's just say it'll be a good thing you haven't finished your conference presentation yet, because you'll have plenty of time to do it.

🇦🇹 Vienna

From Vienna Airport, you can take a direct bus straight to Brno’s city centereasy and convenient. Prefer trains? No problem. RegioJet offers a ticket that covers a transfer from the airport to the Vienna Main Station (Wien Hauptbahnhof) (operated by ÖBB – Österreichische Bundesbahnen, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself on a train run by a different provider) and then a RegioJet train to Brno.

...by a bus or by a train 🚂

Whether your journey ends at Zvonařka Bus Station, the Hotel Grand stop (commonly used by operators like RegioJet and FlixBus), or the Main Train Station (Hlavní nádraží), the information below will help you navigate Brno with ease. From transport tips to ticketing options, we’ve gathered everything you need to get around the city.

Getting Around Brno

To navigate Brno like a pro, we recommend using Google Maps. Aside from the obvious purpose of map app, it’s also great for public transport info, including departure times and live delays.

Brno’s public transport system is well-connected and efficient, making it a top-notch way to get you anywhere. And to make things really easy, when buying a ticket there’s no need to fumble with paper tickets or download yet another app – just tap your contactless card or device at the terminals in the vehicles and you’re good to go.

Everything About the Beep & Go System

If public transport feels a bit too... public for your taste, and you’d rather travel solo, Bolt operates in Brno, offering both taxis and electric scooters. Just open the Bolt app, set your location, and zoom off!
