Sailas' lecture will focus on how, after the Protestant Reformation, the
funerary culture in Finland — then part of the Swedish realm — slowly took a
new course. What was a noble funeral like during the Swedish Great Power
(1611-1721) and Lutheran Orthodoxy? What kind of funerary and memorial objects
have survived in Finnish churches to this day?
The lecture will be held on 15 April 2025 at 14:30 in the K31.
We are looking forward to seeing you,
