Call for Papers: Who Owns Heritage?
(Extended deadline: April 22) Call for Papers: Who Owns Heritage? Local Communities and the Fight for Historical Monuments in the 19th and 20th Centuries. Masaryk University Brno, Czechia, 6 November
This autumn semester, SMArt Talks bring a series of lectures by colleagues focusing on various types of modern and contemporary art historical networks. Juliane Marie Debeusscher is a current visiting fellow at the Centre for Modern Art & Theory, and she will share her research on the so-called contextual art and cross-border exchanges in Europe in the 1970s. In October, we will welcome Elana Shapira from Vienna, who will also be a guest speaker for the MUNI Seminar Series. As an expert on Jewish artists, her lecture will shed light on the migrant networks of early 20th-century Berlin. In December, Marie Rakušanová from the Art History Department at Charles University will expand the topic of networks and infrastructures by providing new insight into avant-garde artistic institutions in Central Europe.
