The Centre for Early Medieval Studies cordially invites you to the presentation of the new photographic book Wonders in stone.
The event will take place on Thursday 29 February at 18:00 in the Hans Belting Library.
The book presents monuments of Georgia and Armenia, captured by art historians from different parts of the world during their travels. Each of them has a distinctive photographic style that is reflected in them, looking at Caucasian architecture and landscapes from different perspectives. The captions to the photographs and the introduction to the book are in Czech, English, French, Italian and German.
And what are wonders in stone? The masters who have built these architectural gems throughout history. Their buildings have not been destroyed by war attacks or frequent earthquakes. What makes them exceptional is not only their engineering, but also their beauty, which unites worlds, also in perfect harmony with the surrounding landscape.
