Call for Papers: Who Owns Heritage?
Call for Papers: Who Owns Heritage? Local Communities and the Fight for Historical Monuments in the 19th and 20th Centuries. Masaryk University Brno, Czechia, 6 November.
Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach (1656-1723)
Jan Blazej Santini-Aichel (1677-1723)
As "ungemein" in the sense of extraordinary unusualness, contemporaries assessed
the projects of the Viennese architect Fischer von Erlach, but the same word was used around
1900 Santini-Aichel was praised, this time in the sense of using unusual
Baroque forms. Did these two designers have anything in common? And what was the musical culture
of the time in which they lived and for which they both built their unusual architectural spaces? This
are some of the questions we will consider
in a transdisciplinary dialogue.
The lecture will also be broadcast live on the faculty's youtube channel.
